Danutė Kalinauskaitė, born in 1959 in Kaunas, is a major prose writer and essayist on the Lithuanian literary scene. Renowned for her mastery of short form, she has received numerous literary awards, and her texts have been translated into several languages. Blanc contre Noir is her first novel, which became an event upon its publication in 2023: it was voted the most creative book of the year in Lithuania and was among the finalists for the Book of the Year Award in the prose category.
