Diadié Dembele was born in Kodié in the western Mali.
Defining himself as a “survivor of social determinism”, he invests the margins of Marxism and Bourdieudism and tends to introduce in his writing what he calls Afro-determinism. That is to say, the propensity of pan-Africanists to evacuate class struggle in contemporary African issues and to consider social inequalities as an Afro-shared physical law.
Graduate of the Master’s degree in Creative Writing from the University of Paris VIII, he currently works as a medical-social interpreter in an association helping migrants.
His first novel, La danse des grands-mères, will be published by JC Lattès Editions.
