Ouvrage secret was born of a desire, in Noémie Pomerleau-Cloutier, to make sense of loss. She searches for what remains of our dead, dreaming of inventing a place where peace exists, in which to lay down her own grief—that of her father’s death, which occurred when she was only nineteen.

This is how the ambitious project takes shape: to open and hold a space for other people’s stories, a space to be built entirely from scratch. In a process that is anything but linear, 40 testimonies will give rise to 40 poems and 40 embroideries.
With her naturally caring soul and patient touch, and indignant at the failing policies of our system, Noémie Pomerleau-Cloutier practices the art of suturing, and comes, in turn, to embroider her own poem.
