An absolutely unique moment of literature, the letter of a modern Orpheus.

Very far on the north shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence is a sign in the middle of the road with the word END: the traveller must stop at this height. However, beyond the asphalt limit there are several hundred kilometers of communities that are only accessible by air, water or ice, depending on the season. Fascinated since her childhood by the end of Route 138, Noémie Pomerleau-Cloutier went to meet the Coasters—Innu, Francophone and Anglophone—and recorded their voices to reweave in poetry these fragmented territories and these struggles to finish. La patience du lichen is a poetic testimony of rare scope, a heartfelt report that delves into the history and intimacy of this little-known part of Quebec.
