What happened at the beginning, at the very beginning of time, for the Earth to exist, and with it the sky, the oceans, the animals and the Men? Was this world born from a dream, as the Aborigines sing on the red earth of Australia? Or from the tormented loves of Izanagi and Izanami, the divine lovers of the Lapp? Was it shaped in the polar night by the strange Raven-god spoken of by the Inuits, or by the terrible feathered serpent, the Quetzalcoatl of the Aztecs? These twenty-six stories, as old as humanity, are full of furious or clumsy gods, fantastic creatures and incredible miracles. They speak of adventure, betrayal and revenge, but also of learning, knowledge, laughter and love.
