Every night for seven years, the narrator scratched the back of the woman who shared his life, telling her a story until she fell asleep.

With boundless energy, he opens the windows of this bedroom, where the passion of the early days gradually gives way to the discovery of a life together, with its disillusions and conflicting desires, but also to tenderness and the will to save love.

In abrasive language, he traces their daily lives, punctuated by passion, dreams and projects that gradually fade away. From their first meeting to their first nights together, from their Parisian strolls to their move in, their couple metamorphoses to the rhythm of a society and a city in turmoil.

The author

François Bétremieux was born in northern France in 1991. Since 2014, he has been traveling to bookstores to defend the texts he believes in, while conducting his own literary experiments. He is the author of Avec les lucioles on peut faire des couilles (10 pages au carré), and Les gens qui bringuent (Les Venterniers).

Strong points

A highly modern first story about what love can be in the 21st century.

A succession of small mosaics that form the fabric of a universal couple. For better or worse.

A love story reminiscent of Froth on the Daydream, with its blend of the dreamlike and the tragic, and the poetry of Raymond Carver.
