A humbly cruel novel about love and creation.

Freely inspired by the life of the painter Francis Bacon, Tableau final de l’amour is the story of an uncompromising, visceral, even dangerous artistic quest. In a Europe crossed by two wars, the vision of a radical artist whose entire work, obsessed by the body, resounds like a cry. Speaking to the lover who served as his model—this “little inexperienced thief” who, in the middle of the night, broke into his studio—the narrator traces the wanderings of their tumultuous relationship.

With this novel, reminiscent of the eroticism of Bataille or Leiris, Larry Tremblay continues his work of exposing the human being.
