Nowadays, young Hodei lives with his parents and his brother Peio in a farm in the Basque Country. Hodei is a lonely child, he has no friends and he especially likes to venture into the nature, which does not please his parents. They send him to his grandmother, to whom he explains the problem, and she thinks of a solution. He must go to the Witch in the wood of Hautsak, who will give him a mission. In fact, the Witch tells him the story of the monster Herensuge, half dragon half snake, a female who left an egg when she died. It is up to Hodei to watch over the egg and the creature that will come out of it. This is the beginning of a series of adventures that will lead the child over hill and dale on the dragon’s back.
