A historical novel full of twists and turns about women’s access to writing, half of which is drama in alexandrines.
The story takes place in 1650 when Marie is 11 years old. Orphaned and a commoner, she has been taken in by the Baron and Baroness of Rochecourt. Raised with their children, she learned to read and write. She loved the theater and wrote a comic play about life in the castle. One day, the baron announces the arrival of Pierre Corneille.
