Barbara Payton, a free and sulphurous young woman, discovers the formidable whirlwind of Hollywood glory when she is only eighteen years old. She appears in movies with the greatest, is adored by the media, her every move is told, commented, copied… It will last three years. Because Barbara does not have the taste to lower the head to make what one expects of her, not the courage to submit. She toasts to the falseness of Hollywood, affirms her right to the pleasure and the freedom. Soon to be a fallen starlet, she will be banished by those who made her glory. But Barbara will keep her head high, laughing at the deceptive mechanics of success. From the hotel room where she sold her body for a few dollars, she reveals to us the backstage of a world of appearance and tells us her destiny of broken woman.
