In the burns treatment center at Rivière hospital, survivors of all kinds come together: outcasts, women assaulted by their partners, mutilated soldiers, burn victims… What can be done with those who bear the scars of fire on their skin? Gaspard Friedrich, a tormented artist who was saved in spite of himself, becomes an emblematic figure in a discussion group called “Les Sans Visages”. What they all have in common is to have been rejected from the world, their existence frozen in pain: Youri Geffroy, a former soldier shattered by war; Adeline Blanchot, an actress who suffers the blows of her partner; Jasmine, a young girl seriously burned in an accident; Lucien and Samira, whose love was prevented by social constraints… In a world where pain is a spectacle, the Faceless seek to exist.

With Naissance de l’incendie, Léo Cairn examines marginality and resilience through characters whose every scar tells the story of a battle. A dark, committed fresco that questions our society’s failure to integrate those who suffer.
