Corsica. It is there that Agathe will flee after having piled up their luggage in her car and announced to her daughter that they were going to take a few days of vacation. This uneventful surgeon has just rendered justice herself. The man who had assaulted her daughter, destroying the balance of their lives, has been released, and she has settled her account, once and for all. But this guy, with an already heavy rap sheet, also had a family that intends to return the blows. On the roads of Corsica, a death hunt begins, where women and their pursuers will sometimes become prey and sometimes predators.

In this dark novel with an implacable rhythm, Marie Van Moere offers us a kind of unbridled Thelma and Louise where a mother and a daughter carry out a revenge that will lead them on the darkest paths.

The author

Marie Van Moere was born in 1977 in Pau. She spent her first years in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni in French Guiana. She travelled a lot as a child. She now lives in Toulon and is the author of two novels published at La Manufacture de livres Editions and in the Equinox collection.

Strong points

A first novel “favorite” published by La Manufacture Editions in 2014 and reissued with the new graphic charter of the company.

A book that was a finalist for the Landerneau Polar Award when it was first published.

A perfectly balanced alliance between the fine description of a mother-daughter relationship and the violence of a very black story.

Booksellers

“An uppercut that this noir novel with its lively and striking style and unique characters. A book that I won’t soon forget.”

Valérie Caffier, Librairie Le Divan.

“A novel that brings out latent fears, the ones that make your blood run cold and really put you on edge. A vendetta from which you will come out neither indifferent nor unscathed.”

Sophie, Fnac Montparnasse.
