How far would you go to avenge the rape of your 12 years old daughter? The first novel of Marie Van Moere is the stunning and disturbing tale of a mother’s righteous vengeance which turns out to be a dead end for both her and her daughter.

Agathe, a surgeon from Marseille, in her late thirties, is driven to the edge. The man who savagely raped her young daughter is freed from jail. After seducing the aggressor in a nightclub, she shoots him in the head.

This introductory scene sets the tone and the tempo for a breathtaking hunt down. The family of the rapist—bosses of a crime—ridden area—are going to pursue her mercilessly. Agathe drags her daughter along during her flight to Corsica. The two will have to learn how to survive together despite the misunderstandings between a mother and her teenage daughter.

On their heels are Ivo and Ari, the two ruthless brothers who are ready to kill anyone in their way. Thanks to their sister, who is tracking he girl’s cell phone from Marseille, they get closer and closer to the two women.

This nightmare journey takes the protagonists to the darkest corners of their souls and even their lives. They are trapped in a relentless chain of violence and fear until an inevitable and bloody confrontation in the fabulous landscape of Corsica. Who will end up being a victim?
