Marseille is home to many families of Italian origin. Sylvie Tanette grew up in one of them: Sunday gatherings, ragù pasta and union battles. Then she moved to Paris and thought no more of it. Until the memory of the murder convictions of two of her cousins resurfaced. With him, her Piedmontese and Sardinian ancestors seem to awaken. So she returns to her neighborhood, interrogates her relatives, loses herself in the city to find herself. The story of their journey is forged, telling the collective story of French people descended from immigrants.
