There, in this room, he must build the machine. For whom? It’s not very clear. But he must build it quickly if he wants his family to be safe. They were very specific on this point. Yet all this seems a little unreal. That room where he’s locked up. This crazy project. This confusing threat. And how did he get there? He would almost doubt what he sees, feels and thinks he knows. But if all this is just a hallucination, then what is really going on?
La machine, a first virtuoso novel, places its reader in the mind of a man who is desperately searching for the truth in a world where all certainties seem to vanish as the most fleeting of dreams. What if illusion is better than reality?

The author

Born in 1969, Emanuel Dadoun lives in Paris. After a teenage years spent immersing himself in comics and poetry, he studied philosophy at La Sorbonne and short-circuited his destiny as a teacher for writing. Also a great lover of Manchette and Edward Bunker, he is the author of two novels published by Sarbacane Publishing.

Strong points

A novel with a drawer full of suspense.

A virtuoso composition that explores the mechanisms of the human psyche.

A universe on the edge of fantasy and dystopia that evokes that of Black Mirror.
