Emma, a translator, lives in a small apartment with her fourteen-year-old son Quentin. Tired of translating meaningless fluff, she dreams of writing a great novel. Instead, she is forced to accept a consulting assignment with Kiwi, a web giant that wants to develop infallible translation software. But isn’t participating in this venture helping to make her job useless? While Emma struggles with her contradictions, Quentin lives extraordinary adventures in video games and imagines himself as a genius game player. Until the day he is contacted by a mysterious organization that wants to attack Kiwi. Plunged into their own reality, at the risk of drifting apart, mother and son will find themselves reunited in “real life” by issues that go beyond them...

Camille de Peretti skillfully blends fiction and reality, inviting her readers to a playful journey that questions the power of the imagination, of dreams and ultimately of literature.

the authors

Novelist and translator, Camille de Peretti was born in Paris where she attended an international school in the 15th arrondissement.

Das Mädchen is a graphic designer and illustrator. Very influenced by mythology, tales and the imaginary, she develops a dreamlike and offbeat style, sometimes tinged with irony. The plant world but also chimeras, women and childhood have a special place in her illustrations, whether they are treated in a “traditional” pointillist style or in a more pop and colorful vein.
Das Mädchen collaborates regularly with the editions Matin Calme (30 Ways to Kill Your Husband, The 4 Investigators of Gwangseon’ mini-market) as well as with the editions Julliard (Monstres) and Calmann-Lévy (Les rêveurs définitifs).
