An absolutely unique moment of literature, the letter of a modern Orpheus.

In early 2020, Laurence Leduc-Primeau’s partner took his own life. This was the end of a long conversation. A few months later, the author wrote him this letter in which she unravels the underworld, looks back on their last years, on the most horrible as well as the most beautiful. No answer, no survival strategy in this text written in the midst of shock and sadness. A voice, quite simply, a literary voice that has frequented the mystery of collapse and death. This letter to someone who no longer holds a moment of emotion, writing and inimitable truth for the living.

The author

Laurence Leduc-Primeau was born and raised in Montreal. She is interested in intimacy and cracks in reality, tries to believe in magic. In 2016, she published the novel À la fin ils ont dit à tout le monde d’aller se habiller (Éditions de ta Mère). Zoologies and Lettre à Benjamin at La Peuplade Editions.
