At fourteen, Clarisse is considered a difficult teenager. The label hides her mother’s anguish, her father’s indifference, and her school difficulties that are less and less surmountable. Clarisse hates her daily life, dreams of running away from everything and everyone, a freedom that is equal to her dreams. One day, instead of going to college, she leaves. During her escape, she meets Tony, a sensitive and mysterious young man who takes her under his wing. On the paradisiacal and sunny coasts of Portugal, they discover each other, get used to each other and live from day to day. But their sweet dreams are fragile and reality threatens to catch up with them, much more tortuous and tenacious than their romance. How far will they have to go to escape a world that condemns them?

With this second novel, Carine Joaquim makes us vibrate during an initiatory epic of two young people in love with freedom, ready to do anything to defend the purity of their emotions, in spite of the doubts which interfere, the bodies which betray them. Les rêves échoués is the intense epic of a teenager on the edge of his skin.
